Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of work-family conflict as a mediating variable in the relationship between workload and job stress among employees at the North Kuta District Office. The research employed a quantitative approach, with data collected through pre-survey interviews and questionnaires distributed to 51 employees as the research sample. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, path analysis, classical assumption tests, and the Sobel test. The findings indicate that workload has a positive and significant effect on job stress, workload also has a positive and significant effect on work-family conflict, and work-family conflict has a positive and significant effect on job stress. Furthermore, work-family conflict is proven to significantly mediate the relationship between workload and job stress. These results support the application of role theory in explaining inter-role conflict in formal work environments and emphasize the importance of workload management and organizational policies that promote role balance to maintain employees’ psychological well-being.
