Children aged 5-6 years have difficulty in counting, learning mathematics is done from an early age to build children's logical thinking skills, the purpose of this study is to determine the application of the Montessori method in children's counting abilities. The respondents involved were 15 children aged 5-6 years, this study used a quantitative method with the application of the Montessori method of classroom action research (PTK) and was carried out with 2 (two cycles) the results of this study indicate that the application of the Montessori method in the counting abilities of children aged 5-6 years have good counting abilities. Good counting abilities are shown by being able to sort objects from the smallest to the largest objects, counting concrete objects and matching with number symbols 1-10. This study implies that improving counting abilities from an early age can be done with the Montessori method.
