This study aims to describe the implementation of the group discussion method and to analyze the improvement of students’ learning outcomes in Islamic Religious Education at SMK Negeri 2 Kota Sukabumi. The background of this research is based on the low level of student participation and learning outcomes caused by teacher-centered learning methods. Therefore, an innovative learning strategy is needed to encourage active student involvement, one of which is the group discussion method.This study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive type. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The research subjects consisted of Islamic Religious Education teachers and tenth-grade students involved in the learning process. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, while data validity was ensured through source and method triangulation. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of the group discussion method increases students’ activeness in the learning process, such as their confidence in expressing opinions, ability to collaborate, and interaction among students. In addition, this method contributes to improving students’ learning outcomes, as reflected in their deeper understanding of the material and their ability to relate it to daily life. However, several challenges were identified, including students’ lack of confidence and limited instructional time.In conclusion, the group discussion method can serve as an effective alternative learning strategy to improve students’ learning outcomes in Islamic Religious Education, provided that it is implemented systematically and supported by proper classroom management.
