This study aims to determine the role of Islamic education teachers in shaping the character of students at MI Asy Sya'iyah Jelapat. The researcher understands that many students lack understanding and internalisation of moral and ethical values that should be the foundation of their daily behaviour. This can be seen from actions that do not reflect good character, such as dishonesty and lack of respect for others. Therefore, the formation of Islamic character in students is very important to shape students who have ethics and manners towards themselves, others and the environment, especially towards teachers. The purpose of this paper is to describe the Islamic characters that can be instilled in students at school. Character education is the instilling of values that include knowledge, will, awareness and action. The role of teachers, especially Islamic religious education teachers, is crucial in shaping students' character through exemplary behaviour and habit formation. Teachers serve as role models who set an example of good behaviour, thereby producing a generation that is academically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually well-rounded. The research method used is a qualitative approach with a literature study, which involves collecting and analysing data from various sources. The results of the study show that the role of teachers in character education is very important because they not only teach religious knowledge but also guide students to behave in an Islamic manner and prevent bad behaviour. Thus, Islamic religious education teachers are expected to be professionals who are able to shape a generation with good character.
