Abstract

General Background Fluid flow analysis in piping systems is essential for understanding energy losses and system performance in engineering applications. Specific Background Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) has been widely applied to simulate fluid behavior and pressure distribution in complex pipe geometries. Knowledge Gap However, detailed analysis of flow characteristics and pressure drop in specific pipe configurations, particularly at bends, remains limited. Aims This study aims to analyze fluid flow patterns and pressure drop in a piping system using CFD simulation. Results The results show that pressure drop increases with higher flow velocity and is significantly affected by pipe geometry, especially at bends where turbulence and vortex formation occur. Flow visualization indicates non-uniform pressure distribution and localized energy losses. Novelty This study provides detailed numerical insight into the interaction between flow velocity and pipe geometry using CFD visualization. Implications The findings can support the optimization of piping system design to reduce energy losses and improve operational efficiency.
