This article discusses shirk as a serious threat to the faith of Muslims because it directly contradicts the principle of tawhid, which is the foundation of Islamic teachings. The discussion focuses on the definition of shirk, its classification into major and minor shirk, and its impact and dangers on individual and social life. This study uses a library research approach with a qualitative descriptive method. The research data was obtained from various written sources in the form of reference books, scientific journal articles, magazines, and current literature relevant to the theme of shirk. The data analysis technique used is content analysis, which is carried out through the stages of data collection, data grouping according to the focus of the discussion, and data reduction by selecting information relevant to the research objectives. The results of the study show that shirk does not only appear in the form of actual idol worship, but also develops in more subtle and often unconscious forms, such as riya', excessive dependence on worldly causes, and errors in understanding cause and effect relationships. Shirk has an impact on the destruction of faith, the loss of good deeds, moral degradation, and the disruption of social harmony.
