Character building programs are strategic efforts by schools to shape the character of students so that they have moral values, ethics, and work attitudes that are in line with the demands of the world of education and industry. Character education includes three main components, namely moral knowing, moral feeling, and moral action (Lickona, 1991). In order for character values to be not only understood but also internalized and practiced in daily life, these three components must be developed simultaneously. This article aims to internalize character values in students. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. This study uses purposive sampling, with techniques of interviews, observation, and documentation. The results of the study show that teachers play an active role in implementing character building programs through the integration of character values in learning, instilling discipline, and setting an example in their daily behavior. The success of character building programs is greatly influenced by the role of teachers, especially in building the character of students who are moral, disciplined, and responsible.
