Penelitian ini bertujuan menciptakan karya tari Baputa Mangko Ka Tagak yang terinspirasi dari permainan tradisional Minangkabau, gasiang (gasing), sebagai representasi nilai kebersamaan, kekuatan, dan keseimbangan. Penelitian ini berangkat dari kesenjangan kajian yang masih menempatkan permainan tradisional sebatas objek etnografis dan belum banyak dieksplorasi sebagai basis metodologis dalam kerangka practice-based research. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan penelitian penciptaan (practice as research) melalui tahapan eksplorasi, improvisasi, dan komposisi. Data diperoleh melalui observasi permainan gasiang, wawancara dengan pelaku tradisi, dokumentasi, serta refleksi praktik koreografis. Analisis dilakukan secara tematik dan estetis untuk mengidentifikasi transformasi nilai budaya ke dalam struktur gerak dan dramaturgi. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa simbolisme gerak putaran, penggunaan kain panjang sebagai representasi tali, serta konfigurasi kelompok penari secara efektif merepresentasikan nilai kebersamaan, kekuatan, dan keseimbangan. Penelitian ini berkontribusi secara metodologis dalam penguatan praktik penelitian penciptaan tari berbasis tradisi serta secara kultural dalam revitalisasi permainan tradisional Minangkabau melalui medium pertunjukan. Creation of the Baputa Mangko Ka Tagak Dance: Representation of the Values of the Gasiang Minangkabau Game ABSTRACT This study aims to create a dance work entitled Baputa Mangko Ka Tagak, inspired by the Minangkabau traditional game gasiang (spinning top), representing the values of togetherness, strength, and balance. The research addresses the gap in previous studies that mainly positioned traditional games as ethnographic objects rather than as methodological foundations within a practice-based research framework. Employing practice-as-research methodology, the study involved stages of exploration, improvisation, and composition. Data was collected through observation, interviews with tradition bearers, documentation, and choreographic reflective practice. The analysis was conducted thematically and aesthetically to examine the transformation of cultural values into movement structures and dramaturgy. The findings indicate that circular movement symbolism, the use of a long cloth as a rope representation, and group formations effectively embody the values of togetherness, strength, and balance. This study contributes methodologically to dance creation research grounded in tradition and culturally to the revitalization of Minangkabau traditional games within contemporary performance practice.
