RECONSTRUCTING THE CIVILIZATIONAL VALUES OF THE TRUMON KINGDOM THROUGH ETHNOPEDAGOGY AS A CHARACTER EDUCATION MODEL

Abstract

This study reconstructs the civilizational values of the Trumon Kingdom through an ethnopedagogical perspective as a model for strengthening character education at SMA Negeri 1 Trumon. A qualitative case study design was employed to explore local values, school practices, and the perceived effects of value-based learning. Data were collected through semi-structured in-depth interviews, participant observation, documentation, and field notes involving school leaders, teachers, students, and Trumon customary figures. Data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldana through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, supported by thematic coding and triangulation. The findings reveal seven core values: religiosity, mutual cooperation, deliberation, wise leadership, respect for custom, independence, and courage. These values were transformed into an ethnopedagogical model through contextual learning, local storytelling, value discussion, school culture, social practice, and cultural projects. The model strengthened students’ religiosity, discipline, responsibility, social care, and cultural identity.
