Sufi exegesis emerges as a mode of Quranic interpretation that emphasizes inner meaning, yet its status remains contested because it relies on spiritual experience that is difficult to verify scientifically. This study aims to analyze the epistemology of Sufi exegesis by examining kasyf and ilham as sources of knowledge and by assessing their validity in interpreting the Quran. The research employs a qualitative library method using documentation of Sufi commentaries, works on ulum al-Quran and Sufism, and relevant scholarly books and articles. Data are analyzed descriptively and analytically through reduction, conceptual categorization, interpretation, and conclusion drawing with epistemological and hermeneutical approaches. The findings show that kasyf functions as an unveiling of inner meaning, while ilham operates as spiritual inspiration that helps the interpreter grasp the symbolic indications of Quranic verses more deeply. Neither constitutes revelation, so neither can serve as an absolute basis for determining Quranic meaning. Methodological limits apply.
