<![CDATA[Living Qur’an studies have documented diverse forms of Qur’anic reception, yet limited attention has been given to how meanings inherited from the exegetical tradition are preserved and recontextualized within contemporary religious communities. Addressing this gap, this study investigates the reception of Q.S. Fāṭir [35]:29–30 among Qur’an teachers at Pondok Pesantren Nurul Falah Surabaya. Employing a Living Qur’an approach through in-depth interviews and participant observation, the findings are analyzed using the threefold framework of exegetical, aesthetic, and functional reception in dialogue with classical and modern-contemporary exegesis. The study finds that the teachers preserve the verse’s core exegetical meanings while extending them into contemporary educational practice. Exegetical reception actualizes tilāwah, iqāmat al-ṣalāh, infāq, and tijārah lan tabūr as an integrated paradigm of Qur’anic education and devotion. Aesthetic reception is expressed through reverence for the Qur’an, proper etiquette, tartīl, and the cultivation of Qur’anic sensibility. Functional reception transforms the verse into embodied practices of da‘wah, spiritual formation, educational service, communal care, and the formation of Ahl al-Qur’an identity. These findings demonstrate that Living Qur’an reception preserves continuity with the exegetical tradition while recontextualizing Qur’anic meanings into a coherent framework of lived religious commitment.]]>
