This study aimed to determine the effect of the play method on the sprint running ability of male tenth-grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Gerung, West Lombok. The study employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design. The analyzed participants consisted of 23 male students. Data were collected through a 60-meter sprint test administered before and after the intervention. The data were analyzed descriptively, followed by a normality test and a paired-difference test at a significance level of 0.05. The results showed that the mean pretest time was 8.44 seconds, while the mean posttest time was 8.03 seconds, indicating an improvement of 0.41 seconds or 4.86%. The significance value obtained was 0.002, which was lower than 0.05. Therefore, it can be concluded that the play method had a significant effect on improving the 60-meter sprint ability of male tenth-grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Gerung, West Lombok.
