Katumbak Music is one of the traditional arts of the Minangkabau community that has developed in the Pariaman and Padang Pariaman regions of West Sumatra, Indonesia. This musical tradition serves as a form of folk entertainment accompanying various social and cultural activities, particularly wedding ceremonies. However, the advancement of technology and the growing influence of modern entertainment have posed significant challenges to the existence of Katumbak Music. This study aims to examine the existence of Katumbak Music in the modern era and explore the various efforts undertaken to preserve it as a traditional cultural heritage of the Minangkabau people, especially in wedding ceremonies in Padang Pariaman Regency. The research employs a descriptive qualitative method to provide an in-depth understanding of the existence and preservation of Katumbak Music. Data were collected through observation, interviews with Katumbak performers, community leaders, and documentation related to Katumbak performances. The findings indicate that Katumbak Music continues to exist in several Minangkabau regions, particularly in Pauh Kambar, Padang Pariaman Regency, where it is still performed during traditional ceremonies, wedding celebrations, and traditional art performances. Preservation efforts include the transmission of knowledge to younger generations, the development of art groups, the organization of cultural festivals, and the utilization of digital media as a means of promotion and documentation.
