Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of the traditional Hadang game on improving the physical fitness of upper-grade elementary school students. This study employed a quantitative method with an experimental approach using a One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The research was conducted at SD Negeri 4 Derik, Susukan District, Banjarnegara Regency, from May 18 to June 13, 2026. The sample consisted of 25 fourth- and fifth- grade students selected through purposive sampling. The research instruments included a 40-meter sprint test, flexed-arm hang test, 30-second sit-up test, and vertical jump test. The treatment in the form of the traditional Hadang game was administered in eight sessions over four weeks. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and the Paired Sample t-Test at a significance level of 0.05. The results indicated significant improvements in all components of physical fitness after the treatment. The Paired Sample t-Test showed a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05). Therefore, the traditional Hadang game significantly improved students' physical fitness and can be utilized as an effective, practical, and easily implemented learning alternative in Physical Education, Sports, and Health (PJOK)
