Optimism is an important psychological resource for university students in dealing with academic demands, developmental transitions, and future preparation. Optimism is influenced by various internal factors, including self-esteem and self-compassion. This study aimed to examine the relationship between self-esteem and self-compassion with optimism among university students. This study employed a quantitative approach with a correlational design involving 418 active students at Universitas Negeri Semarang selected through random sampling. Data were collected using the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, Self-Compassion Scale–Short Form, and Revised Life Orientation Test, and were analyzed using multiple linear regression. The findings showed that self-esteem and self-compassion simultaneously had a significant relationship with optimism (R² = 0.715; p < 0.01). Partially, self-esteem had a positive and significant relationship with optimism (β = 0.532; p < 0.01), and self-compassion also showed a positive and significant relationship with optimism (β = 0.362; p < 0.01). These findings indicate that positive self-evaluation and the ability to accept oneself adaptively play important roles in shaping students’ positive expectations toward the future. _____________________________________________________________Optimisme merupakan salah satu sumber daya psikologis yang penting bagi mahasiswa dalam menghadapi tuntutan akademik, transisi perkembangan, dan persiapan masa depan. Optimisme dipengaruhi oleh berbagai faktor internal, di antaranya self-esteem dan self-compassion. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji hubungan self-esteem dan self-compassion dengan optimisme pada mahasiswa. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain korelasional terhadap 418 mahasiswa aktif Universitas Negeri Semarang yang dipilih menggunakan teknik random sampling. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, Self-Compassion Scale–Short Form, dan Revised Life Orientation Test, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan regresi linear berganda. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa self-esteem dan self-compassion secara simultan memiliki hubungan yang signifikan dengan optimisme (R² = 0,715; p < 0,01). Secara parsial, self-esteem memiliki hubungan positif dan signifikan dengan optimisme (β = 0,532; p < 0,01), demikian pula self-compassion yang juga menunjukkan hubungan positif dan signifikan dengan optimisme (β = 0,362; p < 0,01). Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa evaluasi diri yang positif dan kemampuan menerima diri secara adaptif berperan penting dalam membentuk harapan positif mahasiswa terhadap masa depan.
