ABSTRACT This study examines the innovation communication process of the Sympathetic Visit Service Program for Orthotic and Prosthetic Patients at Imanuel Hospital Bandar Lampung. The program was developed as an innovative healthcare service aimed at maintaining communication and strengthening relationships between the hospital and patients using orthotic and prosthetic devices. This research employed a qualitative case study approach, with data collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation. The analysis was guided by Rogers’ Diffusion of Innovations Theory and Grunig’s Two-Way Symmetrical Communication Model. The findings reveal that the innovation communication process followed the stages of knowledge, persuasion, decision, implementation, and confirmation. Patients generally perceived the program positively because it provided information, emotional support, and continuous monitoring of orthotic and prosthetic device use. The program also demonstrated innovation characteristics, including relative advantage, compatibility, simplicity, trialability, and observability. Furthermore, two-way communication between the hospital and patients facilitated feedback exchange and service improvement. The study concludes that the Sympathetic Visit Service Program is an effective healthcare communication innovation that contributes to enhancing patient-centered service quality through collaborative and responsive communication practices.
