Abstract

Pointing accuracy is a key technical component in petanque because successful performance requires integrated visual focus, postural balance, arm coordination, release control, and target orientation. This study examined the effectiveness of coordination training in improving pointing throw performance among Physical Education, Health, and Recreation students. A quantitative experimental approach with a one-group pretest-posttest design was applied. Participants were 20 students selected through total sampling who completed 12 coordination training sessions involving circular target drills, throwing-distance variation, rope obstacles, line targets, and structured repetitions. Data were collected using a seven-meter pointing test with six attempts and a maximum score of 30, then analyzed using descriptive statistics, the Shapiro-Wilk test, Levene’s test, and a paired sample t-test. The mean score increased from 11.35 to 17.15, with a mean gain of 5.80 points and a significant difference, t(19)=10.820; p<0.001. These findings indicate that coordination training effectively improves pointing accuracy and provides a practical strategy for developing target-based motor.
