Abstract

Abstract Adolescent girls are a vulnerable group at risk of nutritional problems that may affect their future reproductive health. SMAN 06 Makassar does not yet have a structured nutritional and reproductive health screening program for the early detection of such problems. This community service activity aimed to identify the nutritional status and age at menarche of adolescent girls as a preventive measure against reproductive nutrition problems. The activity was conducted in December 2025 and involved 57 female students from grades X and XI. Screening was carried out through anthropometric measurements, including body weight, height, and mid-upper arm circumference (MUAC), as well as structured interviews regarding menarche history. Nutritional status assessment based on the WHO AnthroPlus BMI-for-age indicator showed that most students had normal nutritional status (73.7%). However, MUAC measurements identified that 26.3% of the students were at risk of Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED). Regarding reproductive health, the majority of respondents experienced menarche at the normal age range of 12–14 years (90.9%), while the proportions of early and delayed menarche were 3.6% and 5.5%, respectively. These findings indicate that regular screening of nutritional status and age at menarche can serve as an effective early detection strategy for identifying reproductive nutrition problems among adolescent girls, enabling timely and appropriate interventions.
