<![CDATA[This study aimed to improve students’ arithmetic operation skills through the use of Islamic illustrated storybooks in mathematics learning for second-grade elementary school students. The research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) using the spiral model of Kemmis and McTaggart, which consisted of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. The subjects of the study were 24 second-grade elementary school students. The research was conducted in two cycles. Data collection techniques included observation, learning outcome tests, interviews, and documentation. The research data were analyzed using qualitative and quantitative descriptive techniques. The results showed that the use of Islamic illustrated storybooks was able to improve students’ arithmetic operation skills in mathematics learning. The improvement could be seen from the gradual increase in students’ learning mastery percentage in each cycle. In the pre-cycle stage, the percentage of students’ learning mastery was 33%. After the implementation of Islamic illustrated storybooks in Cycle I, the learning mastery percentage increased to 67%. Furthermore, in Cycle II, the learning mastery percentage increased again to 87%. In addition, students’ learning activities also improved because students became more active, enthusiastic, and interested in participating in learning through illustrated storybook media integrated with Islamic values. Thus, the use of Islamic illustrated storybooks proved to be effective in improving arithmetic operation skills of second-grade elementary school students while creating a meaningful and enjoyable learning atmosphere.]]>
