<![CDATA[This research was motivated by the low interest in learning mathematics among fifth-grade students at SD Negeri 17 Pekanbaru, as indicated by low student participation in learning activities, difficulties in understanding abstract concepts, and learning outcomes that were still below the Minimum Mastery Criteria (KKM). This study aimed to determine the teachers’ efforts in improving students’ interest in learning mathematics and to identify the obstacles faced by teachers during the learning process. This research employed a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. The research informants consisted of 4 fifth-grade teachers and 15 students from class VD. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation, while data analysis was conducted through data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The validity of the data was ensured through data, technique, and time triangulation. The results showed that teachers had made various efforts to improve students’ interest in learning mathematics through explaining learning objectives, providing motivation and guidance, using varied teaching methods and learning media, and giving rewards. These efforts were able to create an active, comfortable, and enjoyable learning atmosphere, thereby increasing student participation and interest in learning. The obstacles faced by teachers included differences in students’ abilities, limited learning media, and limited time. However, teachers had effective strategies to overcome these obstacles so that mathematics learning could continue to run optimally.]]>
