This study analyzes strategic management in improving madrasah competitiveness based on local excellence within the Ahlussunnah Wal Jama'ah (Aswaja) framework, focusing on formulation, implementation, evaluation, and supporting/inhibiting factors. Aswaja principles—tawassuth (moderation), tawazun (balance), tasamuh (tolerance), and amar ma'ruf nahi munkar—provide an Islamic ethical foundation. Using a qualitative case study at a madrasah in Lampung, data were collected through interviews, observation, and documentation. Findings reveal three interrelated stages: formulation integrates vision-mission, SWOT analysis, local potential, and Aswaja values; implementation develops flagship programs embodying community empowerment and balanced development; evaluation uses continuous monitoring and stakeholder feedback grounded in musyawarah. Integrating local excellence within an Aswaja framework significantly improved competitiveness—increased enrollment, community trust, and reputation—while preserving Islamic orthodoxy and local culture. Supporting factors include visionary leadership rooted in khidmah, teacher commitment, community involvement, and infrastructure; inhibiting factors include resource limits, low digital literacy, and geographic constraints. The study concludes that Aswaja-infused local excellence-based strategic management offers a transformative approach for sustainable madrasah competitiveness while maintaining authentic Islamic teachings and community values.
