Abstract

Stunting is a global health issue affecting approximately 22% of toddlers worldwide, with a prevalence rate of 21.6% in Indonesia (SSGI 2022), necessitating a multisectoral approach that includes the role of local actors. This study aims to explore the role of religious leaders (ulema) and traditional community leaders in stunting prevention efforts in Kampar Regency, an area facing challenges related to child malnutrition. Stunting, resulting from chronic malnutrition, not only hinders child growth but also diminishes long-term human resource quality. The study examines how these leaders, as social influencers, contribute through educational and advocacy activities. A qualitative method was chosen to gain an in depth understanding of their perspectives, experiences, and community participation dynamics, employing data collection techniques such as in-depth interviews and focus group discussions involving Ulema, traditional leaders, health agency representatives, and local government officials. Data analysis reveals their key role in raising public awareness about balanced nutrition and proper parenting, primarily through religious sermons, Islamic study groups, and traditional rituals. Major challenges include insufficient program integration with the health system and the need for further training. These findings highlight the importance of structured collaboration among local leaders, the health sector, and the government to strengthen holistic stunting prevention efforts.

Abstract

This study aims to explore and analyze the internalization of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) values based on religious moderation within the IPNU and IPPNU organizations at the sub-district level (PAC) of Seputih Mataram, Central Lampung Regency. The research employs a qualitative case study approach, with data collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving organizational leaders, active members, and community figures. The findings reveal five core values of religious moderation internalized: commitment to nationality, tolerance, anti-violence, accommodation to local culture, and amar ma'ruf nahi munkar (enjoining good and forbidding evil). These values are institutionalized through three integrated pathways: formal organizational activities (Makesta, Lakmud, Lakut, routine recitations, and leadership training), role modeling by organizational leaders, and organizational culture (deliberation, collective work, tahlilan, yasinan, and national activities). The contribution of these values manifests in strengthened member character, enhanced tolerance and cooperation, violence and conflict prevention, and adaptation to local culture. The implications are evident in members' behavior: reinforced national commitment, tolerant attitudes, conflict management skills, and appreciation of local culture. This research contributes theoretically to the literature on Islamic education based on religious moderation and practically provides recommendations for student development programs at the village level, demonstrating that IPNU and IPPNU serve as effective mediums for character education that is moderate, contextual, and relevant to the social and cultural needs of local communities.

Abstract

The increasingly competitive educational landscape demands that madrasahs develop distinctive advantages to maintain institutional relevance and attract community trust. However, many madrasahs in Indonesia still struggle to formulate and implement effective strategic management approaches that leverage local excellence as competitive assets. This study aims to analyze strategic management in improving madrasah competitiveness based on local excellence, focusing on strategy formulation, implementation, evaluation, as well as supporting and inhibiting factors. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews with madrasah heads, teachers, and community leaders, participatory observation, and documentation at a madrasah in Lampung Province. The findings reveal that strategic management is implemented through three interrelated stages: formulation involving vision-mission alignment and SWOT analysis integrated with local potential identification; implementation through flagship programs based on local excellence such as agricultural skills, religious tourism, and cultural preservation; and evaluation through continuous monitoring and stakeholder feedback. The integration of local excellence has significantly improved the madrasah's competitive advantage, reflected in increased student enrollment, strengthened community trust, and enhanced institutional reputation. Supporting factors include visionary leadership, teacher commitment, community involvement, and adequate infrastructure, while inhibiting factors include resource limitations, low digital literacy, and geographic constraints. This study concludes that local excellence-based strategic management offers a transformative approach for madrasahs to build sustainable competitiveness while preserving cultural identity and community values.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of organizational culture on teacher commitment and performance at Madrasah Aliyah Ma'arif NU 5 Sekampung. A strong and conducive organizational culture is believed to be an important factor in increasing teachers' commitment to the institution and encouraging optimal performance. This study employs a quantitative approach with a survey method. The research population consisted of all 42 teachers at Madrasah Aliyah Ma'arif NU 5 Sekampung, with a saturated sample of 42 respondents. Data collection was conducted using a questionnaire with a Likert scale of 1-5 that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis used descriptive statistics and multiple linear regression analysis with SPSS software. The results showed that: (1) organizational culture has a positive and significant effect on teacher commitment; (2) organizational culture has a positive and significant effect on teacher performance; (3) teacher commitment has a positive and significant effect on teacher performance; and (4) teacher commitment mediates the influence of organizational culture on teacher performance. These findings indicate that a strong organizational culture, which includes shared values, norms, and positive work ethic, can increase teachers' affective, normative, and continuance commitment, which in turn encourages improvement in their performance. This research contributes to the development of Islamic education management in madrasahs, particularly in understanding the mechanism of organizational culture's influence on teacher performance through commitment as a mediating variable
