Pangasius (Pangasius sp.) is one of Indonesia’s leading freshwater aquaculture commodities, with high economic value and steadily increasing market demand. One of the main challenges in intensive pangasius farming is the high cost of feed, primarily due to reliance on fish meal as the main protein source. Moringa leaves (Moringa oleifera) are a local raw material with the potential to serve as an alternative nutritional source in fish feed due to their comprehensive content of protein, vitamins, minerals, and bioactive compounds, as well as their abundant availability at a relatively low cost. This article is based on a literature review of various research findings regarding the use of moringa leaf meal in feed for catfish and related catfish species. The results indicate that adding moringa leaf meal at certain levels (generally below 10–15% of the total diet) can improve the growth and survival of catfish fry, whereas adding it at excessively high doses tends to reduce growth performance due to the effects of antinutritional compounds such as tannins and phytic acid. Processing treatments such as fermentation have been shown to improve the nutritional quality of moringa leaf meal by reducing crude fiber content and antinutritional compounds.
