Abstract

ABSTRACT Vibrations in rotating household appliances, such as blenders, are caused by mass imbalance, centrifugal force, friction, and component interactions when the motor is running. As rotational speed increases, the amplitude and energy of the vibrations also increase, affecting user comfort and the stability of the appliance. Since measuring vibrations with specialized instruments is relatively expensive, a practical and economical alternative is needed. This study aims to analyze the effect of variations in blender rotational speed on vibration characteristics using an accelerometer sensor on a smartphone via the Phyphox app. The research method employed was a quantitative experiment on a National Panalux PBL 410 blender with two speed levels: Level 1 (13,000 RPM) and Level 2 (19,000 RPM). Vibration acceleration data was recorded for 5 seconds at each speed level and then processed using Maple software to obtain the peak value, RMS (Root Mean Square), dominant frequency, noise estimate, and standard deviation. The results of the study show that Level 2 produced a peak of 5.571 and an RMS of 3.024, which are higher than those of Level 1, with a peak of 3.769 and an RMS of 2.996. The dominant frequencies at Level 1 and Level 2 were 1.256 Hz and 1.150 Hz, respectively. The standard deviation for Level 2 (0.056) is smaller than that for Level 1 (0.258), indicating that the data at Level 2 is more stable. These results suggest that an increase in the blender’s rotational speed tends to increase the intensity and energy of the resulting vibrations. A smartphone equipped with the Phyphox app can serve as a practical, economical, and effective alternative measurement tool for vibration analysis.
