<![CDATA[This study examines the synthesis of Islamic educational values and Bugis local wisdom in the lyrics of the song ‘Duppa Mata Duppa Ati’ by SSBB Tosalama and its relevance to the internalisation of character education. The topic is significant because regional songs are often viewed merely as entertainment, whereas they hold strong potential as an effective medium for instilling values amidst the moral decline of young people in the digital age. The research employs a descriptive qualitative approach using Paul Ricoeur’s hermeneutic model of textual analysis, which integrates structural explanation and contextual understanding. The primary data consist of the song lyrics, analysed through four stages: textual reduction, structural analysis, contextual interpretation, and value synthesis and mapping. Data validity is ensured through source and theory triangulation. The findings reveal three dialectically integrated dimensions of values. First, the creedal dimension (akidah) is manifested in syahadatain, Dewata Seuwae and Pammase Puangnge. Second, the moral dimension (akhlak) is reflected in sipakatau, sipakalebbi and sipakainge’. Third, the sharia dimension comprises mahdhah worship (jenné tellukka, sempajang teppettu) and ghairu mahdhah worship (silaturahim, salama’ topada salama’). The findings confirm that traditional Bugis songs serve as a medium for the internalisation of character that bridges Lickona’s three pillars—moral knowing, moral feeling, and moral action. Thus, locally rooted traditional songs prove adaptable as a cultural-pedagogical instrument for strengthening character education in the contemporary era.]]>
