Vocabulary learning is an important aspect in improving students’ speaking skills (maharah kalam). However, many students still face difficulties in understanding and using Arabic vocabulary orally because learning activities are often focused only on memorization. Therefore, this research was conducted to determine the effectiveness of the Total Physical Response (TPR) method in improving students’ speaking skills through vocabulary learning. The objectives of this study were to describe the implementation of the TPR method, identify its effectiveness, and analyze the supporting and inhibiting factors in its application. This study used a quantitative approach with a one-group pretest-posttest design, supported by qualitative data obtained through observation and interviews. The sample consisted of 31 intensive class students at Ma’had Ar-Rahmah Tahfidz Malang. Previous studies have shown that the TPR method is effective in improving language skills, especially for beginner learners. The results showed an improvement in students’ average scores from 52.74 in the pretest to 82.42 in the posttest. In addition, the paired sample t-test showed a significance value of 0.000 (Sig < 0.05), indicating that the TPR method was effective in improving students’ speaking skills through vocabulary learning.
