Abstract

Industrial developments have brought many significant changes in various fields of life, especially agriculture and education. It seems that the transformation of the agricultural sector and fishpond farming in Medang Village, Glagah, Lamongan are affected by the catfish folklore that keep the people concerned for generations. This is a phenomenological research and the results are descriptive and qualitative. The data are described and interpreted hermeneutically. The results indicate that the catfish folklore contains a number of educational values that dynamically developed along with the people's beliefs about the folklore as a myth. This transformation of educational values includes: the value of ubudiyyah, the value of the struggle in the life; and the moral value. This transformation occurs through the intervention of many parties, both internal and external ones, such as the local government, the elders, the community leaders  as well as educators. Other factors are technological development and the development of the fishery industry. This research suggests the stakeholders of the village level, districts, and regencies to make the folklore as a medium in learning the educational values. The society, especially the fishpond farmer at Medang village are suggested to preserve the folklore without preventing it to be known. The scholars and the artists can also bring this folklore to life and present it in a more interesting format, both in a pure and classic appearance and in collaboration so that it can be presented as a myth that has a profound meaning.

Abstract

Most of the Arabic language teaching institutions face difficulties in getting students to speak Arabic with them. However, there is an institution that is classified as successful in teaching speaking skills to its students. This study aims to describe the strategies used by the Ar-Rayah College of Languages (STIBA) in Sukabumi in teaching spoken Arabic to students and their impact on the development of speaking skills. This research uses a qualitative approach with a type of case study. The results of this study indicate that there is a set of strategies that contribute to the achievement of the Arabic language learning process at STIBA Ar-Rayah, including the appropriate Arabic language teaching curriculum, student placement in dormitories, long study time, adequate extra activities, giving additional lessons for the less fortunate, and the existence of native speaking lecturers. The strategy used has an impact on the development of students' speaking skills, where they can speak Arabic fluently in about 6 months, students use Arabic fluently every day, and the Arabic language used is Standard Arabic. The conclusion of this study is that the success of learning Arabic for non-Arabic speakers is supported by the existence of an appropriate strategy in addition to the success in functioning other learning elements.

Abstract

The aim of Arabic learning for the Indonesian people is not only to understand religion. In fact, Arabic learning has undergone a change in orientation towards a more perfect direction. The purpose of this article is to understand (1) the orientation of Arabic learning in tertiary institutions, (2) models of transformation of Arabic learning in higher education based on a new orientation of Arabic learning. So far this aspect has not been paid attention to in existing studies. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive analysis model. Data collection was carried out through interviews, observation and documentation. Data were analyzed from the start of data collection, then data description and data reduction, then verification in detail. The results of this study indicate that there is a change in orientation in learning Arabic in Indonesian universities, which previously only oriented maharah qira'ah to understand religious texts, to become perfectly oriented to master the four language skills. A new transformation model is being carried out by several universities that teach Arabic, characterized by intensive learning using a modern curriculum and the availability of an appropriate language environment. In conclusion, it turns out that learning Arabic in Indonesia leads to a better direction if it is consistent with a new orientation and follows the development of language learning in other worlds.

Abstract

This study departs from the problem of lack of clarity in classification of research areas in Arabic Language Education. This study aims to describe and create a concept map in the research areas of students majoring in Bachelor of Arabic Language Education of UIN Sunan Kalijaga, UNSIQ Wonosobo, UNNES and UMY. This is a descriptive qualitative and quantitative research. Data were collected by way of documentation to be analyzed inductively with content analysis. The qualitative data were analyzed using an interactive analysis, particularly through data reduction, data submission, and conclusion drawing. Meanwhile, the quantitative data were analyzed using a frequency distribution. From the study, it is clear that students taking the Bachelor of Arabic Language Education in several universities in Indonesia mostly conduct their research on the following eighteen topics, namely: learning methods (34.4%), learning media (21.7%), learning materials (10.5%), psycholinguistics (6.1%), syntax (5%), morphology (4.4%) curriculum (3.9%), reading skills (3.3%), science of balaghah (2.8%), translation (2%), learning evaluation (1.1%), dictionary (1.1%), sociolinguistics (1.1%), listening skill (0.5%), speaking skill (0.5%), writing skill (0.5%), phonology (0.5%) and semantics (0.5%). In addition, the concept mapping reveals that teaching and learning serve as the most widely addressed topics in Arabic language education.

Abstract

Purpose- The purpose of this study is to find the location of errors in students' Arabic speaking skills and then overcome these errors with the error analysis method, and this research focuses more specifically on showing the analysis of verbal errors. Design/Methodology/Approach- The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative, data obtained from interviews, observations, and documentation at the Pondok Pesantren Nurul Jadid Probolinggo. This study used a sample of 7th grade students with a total of 30 students. Findings— During the process of learning Arabic, especially speaking Arabic skills, students are not able to distinguish and pronounce the sounds of Arabic letters properly and correctly. This causes phonemic errors that occur in the students of the Nurul Jadid Probolinggo Islamic Boarding School during the Arabic learning process. There are many phonetic errors that are often found in speaking Arabic, including errors in pronouncing the letters. Arabic has long vowels and consonants that other languages like Indonesian don't have. There are even sounds that are close together and sounds that are firm are characteristics of Arabic which are often problematic in learning Arabic. Research Limitation/Implications- Therefore the author divides from the mistakes made by the students to overcome them. This research could not be deeper because of the limited time given, even so this research got satisfactory results and it is hoped that it can help develop the maharah kalam learning process at the Nurul Jadid Islamic Boarding School Probolinggo.
