<![CDATA[This study aims to determine the effect of Inquiry-Based Learning assisted by animated videos on the writing ability of fiction review texts of eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 3 Percut Sei Tuan. The theories used in this study include the Inquiry-Based Learning model, the Problem-Based Learning model, animated video media, and fiction review texts. This study used a quantitative method with a two-group post-test experimental design. The study population was all eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 3 Percut Sei Tuan. The research sample consisted of 2 classes totaling 64 students, namely class VIII-2 as the control class using the Problem-Based Learning model assisted by animated videos and class VIII-1 as the experimental class using the Inquiry-Based Learning model assisted by animated videos. Data collection was carried out through a test of the ability to write fictional review texts and analyzed using a t-test. The results showed that the average value of the class using the Problem-Based Learning model was 69.53 with a sufficient category, with 11 students (34%) achieving the Learning Objective Achievement Criteria (KKTP) and 21 students (66%) not yet achieving the KKTP. Meanwhile, the average value of the class using the Inquiry-Based Learning model was 83.28 with a good category, with 29 students (91%) achieving the KKTP and 3 students (9%) not yet achieving the KKTP. The results of the hypothesis test showed that tcount > t table, namely 6.40 > 1.669 so that Hₐ was accepted and H₀ was rejected. Thus, the Inquiry-Based Learning model assisted by animated videos significantly influenced the writing skills of eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 3 Percut Sei Tuan in reviewing fictional works.]]>
