This research was motivated by the low mastery of basic shot put techniques among Grade X students at SMA Negara 2 Klari, where most students could not perform fundamental movements correctly, requiring modified learning equipment suited to their physical capabilities. This study aimed to determine the effect of modified equipment on basic shot put skills of Grade X students at SMA Negara 2 Klari. A quantitative quasi- experimental method with a nonequivalent control group design was used. The study was conducted at SMA Negara 2 Klari over eight sessions: one pretest, six treatment sessions, and one posttest. The population comprised all Grade X students, with the sample consisting of class X- 3 with 40 students as the experimental group using modified equipment, and class X- 5 with 40 students as the control group using standard equipment. The modified tool was a plastic ball filled with sand, rock and cement, coated with PE foam for student safety. A validated skill observation sheet was used and analyzed via Paired Sample T- Test and Independent Sample T- Test using IBM SPSS Statistics version 25. The experimental class mean score rose from 71. 35 to 84. 15, gaining 12. 80 points, while the control class improved from 67. 43 to 77. 33, gaining 9. 90 points. The Paired Sample T- Test yielded significance 0. 000 < 0. 05 and the Independent Sample T- Test produced 0. 001 < 0. 05, thus H₀ was rejected and Hₐ was accepted. Equipment modification was therefore ultimately proven to significantly improve students’ basic shot put skills, with the experimental class showing greater gains than the control class.
