The problem in this study is the low ability of straight kicks among students participating in pencak silat extracurricular activities at SMAN 2 Painan, which is indicated by a lack of speed, strength, and accuracy in performing kicks. This condition is presumed to be caused by the insufficient development of lower limb explosive power and the absence of specific training methods. This study aims to determine the effect of Alternate Leg Push Off training on the straight kick ability of students in pencak silat extracurricular activities at SMAN 2 Painan. This research employed a quasi-experimental method with a one group pre-test and post-test design. The sample consisted of 10 students selected using purposive sampling technique. The instrument used was a straight kick speed test. The results showed an improvement in students’ straight kick ability after receiving the training treatment, where the average score increased from 15.00 in the pretest to 20.40 in the posttest. Hypothesis testing using a paired sample t-test showed a significance value of < 0.05, indicating that Alternate Leg Push Off training has a significant effect on improving students' straight kick ability in pencak silat extracurricular activities at SMAN 2 Painan.
