<![CDATA[Reading interest is a crucial element contributing to student success in the learning process. However, the development of digital technology has contributed to the decline in reading habits among students. This study aims to explain the Indonesian language teaching methods implemented by teachers to increase students' interest in reading at SMP Negeri 5, Bengkulu City. The research method used was qualitative with a descriptive approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving one Indonesian language teacher and 20 eighth-grade students. The findings of this study indicate that teachers use various strategies in the learning process, including 15-minute literacy activities before class, the use of contextual reading materials, text-based group discussions, simple review assignments, and utilization of the school library. Students responded positively to the strategies implemented. The increase in reading interest was evident in the increase in students in the high reading interest group, from 20% to 50%, while the low reading interest category decreased from 50% to 15%.
