Abstract

The use of learning media in English subjects for fourth grade elementary school students is still limited. Therefore, it is necessary to develop English learning media based on Playmatte ladders snake. This study aims to develop English learning media based on Playmatte ladders snake on the material How Do You Go to School? for fourth grade elementary school students, as well as to determine its validity and practicality. The validity assessment was conducted by material experts, media experts, and language experts, while the practicality assessment was obtained through students’ response questionnaires. This study employed the Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE development model, which consists of five stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The research was conducted at SD Negeri 6 Palembang. Based on the validation results from all validators, the average score obtained was 87%, which falls into the very valid category. Meanwhile, the practicality test results based on students’ response questionnaires showed an average score of 95% in the one-to-one trial, 94% in the small group trial, and 95% in the large group trial, all categorized as very practical. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the English learning media based on Playmatte ladders snake on the material How Do You Go to School? for fourth grade elementary school students has a very high level of validity and practicality, making it suitable for use in supporting the achievement of learning objectives at school.
