<![CDATA[Listening to news is one of the language skills that requires students to understand, process, and interpret information delivered orally. However, during the learning process, students still tend to act as passive recipients of information, resulting in less optimal involvement in understanding news content, identifying important information, and recognizing the 5W+1H elements. This study aims to describe the implementation of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model in news listening activities and to identify students’ activities and responses during the learning process in class VII I of SMP Negeri 6 Kota Jambi. This research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation related to the implementation of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, with triangulation used to ensure data validity. The results showed that the implementation of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model was carried out through problem orientation, student organization, investigation, presentation of results, and evaluation. Teacher and student activities showed good engagement throughout the learning process. Students actively participated in discussions, expressed opinions, and analyzed information contained in the news. The implementation of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model helped students understand news content, identify elements of news texts, and retell information in a structured manner. Therefore, the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model can be considered an alternative learning model for supporting more active and meaningful news listening activities.]]>
