ABSTRACT The Bubor Paddas eating activity is one of the local wisdoms of the Sambas Malay community that contains the values of togetherness and social concern. However, the development of modernization has the potential to cause a shift in the meaning of this tradition. This study aims to determine the perceptions of PKK members of Jawai Laut Village towards the value of social empathy in the Bubor Paddas eating activity together and to identify the social empathy values contained therein. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with an ethnographic approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation of PKK members, the PKK Chairperson, community leaders, and traditional sources. The results show that the Bubor Paddas eating activity together is seen as a means of strengthening social relationships, fostering concern, and strengthening community solidarity. The social empathy values found include interpersonal empathy, contextual understanding, and social responsibility. This tradition not only functions as a cultural preservation, but also as a medium for building social empathy characters based on local wisdom that is relevant to be applied in community life and the development of Guidance and Counseling services.
