This study aimed to improve students' learning outcomes through reading literacy in short story text materials by implementing the Game Based Learning (GBL) model assisted by relay cards in Grade IV of SD Negeri 5 Peusangan. The study was motivated by students' low reading literacy skills in comprehending reading texts, identifying the intrinsic elements of short stories, and drawing conclusions from the texts they read. This study employed a qualitative approach using Classroom Action Research (CAR), which was conducted in two cycles. The research subjects consisted of 24 fourth-grade students at SD Negeri 5 Peusangan. Data were collected through learning achievement tests, observations of teacher and student activities, student response questionnaires, and documentation. The data were analyzed using descriptive percentage analysis. The results showed that the implementation of the Game Based Learning (GBL) model assisted by relay cards improved students' reading literacy and learning outcomes. The percentage of students achieving learning mastery increased from 20.8% in the pre-action stage to 70.8% in Cycle I and 91.66% in Cycle II. Teacher activity also improved from 80% (good category) in Cycle I to 94% (very good category) in Cycle II. Student activity increased from 74% (good category) in Cycle I to 92% (very good category) in Cycle II. In addition, students' responses to the implementation of the learning model were positive, as they became more active, enthusiastic, and motivated during the learning process. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the Game Based Learning (GBL) model assisted by relay cards is effective in improving students' reading literacy and learning outcomes in short story text materials.
