<![CDATA[Reading literacy is a fundamental competency that supports students' academic success, particularly in primary education. This study aimed to analyze the reading literacy skills of first-grade students in Indonesian language learning at SD Inpres Bontobila, Bajeng District, Gowa Regency. The research employed a quantitative descriptive approach. The participants consisted of 27 first-grade students selected as the research sample. Data were collected through reading literacy tests and classroom observations. The instruments assessed students' ability to recognize letters, read syllables, read words, read simple sentences, and comprehend reading texts. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistical techniques, including mean scores, percentages, and categorization of literacy achievement. The findings revealed that the average reading literacy score of the students was 77.04, indicating a moderate level of reading literacy. A total of 37.04% of students achieved a high category, 51.85% were in the moderate category, and 11.11% were in the low category. The results indicate that most students were able to recognize letters, read syllables, words, and simple sentences accurately. However, their ability to comprehend reading texts and interpret the meaning of written information still requires improvement. Therefore, teachers are encouraged to implement more interactive and meaningful literacy-based learning strategies to strengthen students' reading comprehension skills from the early grades of primary education.]]>
