Low student engagement and suboptimal learning achievement in whole-number topics indicate the need for a more active and participatory learning approach. This study aimed to improve the mathematics learning achievement of fifth-grade students through the implementation of the Make A Match cooperative learning model at SDN 05 V Koto Kampung Dalam, Padang Pariaman Regency. This study employed a Classroom Action Research design using a mixed-method approach and was conducted in three cycles, each consisting of planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection stages. The participants were one fifth-grade teacher and 15 students. Data were collected using test and non-test instruments. The results showed that the quality of the lesson plans increased from 91.6% in Cycle I to 97.2% in Cycles II and III. The quality of learning implementation also improved from 88.6% in Cycle I to 96.5% in Cycle II and 97.7% in Cycle III. Furthermore, the students' mean learning achievement increased from 71.7 to 81.9 and finally to 92. These findings indicate that the Make A Match cooperative learning model effectively improves students' mathematics learning achievement in whole-number topics.
