This study aims to determine the effect of using board game-based learning media on students’ understanding of the types of energy sources in Science subjects for fourth-grade students at UPTD SDN Sepulu 01. The background of this study is based on students' low understanding of the types of energy sources and the limited use of innovative and engaging learning media in the learning process. Therefore, learning media that can increase student engagement and understanding during learning activities are needed. This study employed a quantitative research method with a one-group pretest-posttest design. This design was used to identify changes in students’ understanding before and after the implementation of board game-based learning media. The population and sample of this study consisted of all 33 students of class IV A at UPTD SDN Sepulu 01. Data were collected through multiple-choice tests administered during the pretest and posttest sessions. Prior to their use, the research instruments were tested for validity and reliability to ensure their suitability for data collection. Data analysis was conducted using the normality test and paired sample t-test with the assistance of SPSS version 21 for Windows. The results showed that the significance value of the paired sample t-test was 0.000 (< 0.05). These findings indicate a significant difference between the pretest and posttest scores after the implementation of board game-based learning media. Therefore, it can be concluded that board game-based learning media have a significant effect on students’ understanding of the types of energy sources in Science subjects for fourth-grade students at UPTD SDN Sepulu 01. Board games create a more engaging, active, and enjoyable learning environment, thereby helping students improve their understanding of the learning material.
