Abstract

This study aims to analyze the profile of students' metacognitive skills in colloid material assisted by POGIL inquiry-based E-LAPD in high school. This type of research uses a preliminary research method, namely data collection using instruments in the form of student questionnaires, teacher interviews, and written tests on metacognitive skills in colloid material. The data obtained were analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively descriptively. This study was conducted on 26 students at SMAN 19 Surabaya. Based on the results of the initial metacognitive skills test, it was found that the metacognitive skills of the 26 students were still lacking, with a percentage of 51% for planning, 11% for monitoring, and 46% for evaluation. Based on the questionnaire results, it was found that 96.2% of students considered colloid material difficult to understand because of the dominance of memorization activities and the presence of difficult terms. Based on the results of an interview with one of the chemistry teachers at SMAN 19 Surabaya, it was stated that E-LAPD was only used during practical work. Therefore, students' metacognitive skills are still low, so they can be developed through the application of POGIL inquiry-based E-LAPD. Thus, the initial results of this study provide an overview that the integration of POGIL inquiry-based E-LAPD learning media is very necessary to improve students' metacognitive skills.
