Background: Long-term consumption of high-calorie foods can lead to obesity. Leunca fruit contains several phytochemicals that act as antioxidants and anti-obesity agents. Objectives: This study aims to analyze the potential of Solanum nigrum fruit as an anti-obesity agent in rats induced with a high-fat sucrose diet (HFSD) to prevent weight gain. Methods: This study was experimental. The sample consisted of 30 male Sprague -Dawley rats, divided into 5 groups: K1 (standard diet), K2 (HFSD), P1 (HFSD + leunca 0.8 g/200 gBW), P2 (HFSD + leunca 1.6 g/200 gBW), and P3 (HFSD + leunca 2.4 g/200 gBW). The study was conducted at the Nutrition Laboratory, Center for Food and Nutrition Studies, Gadjah Mada University (PSPG PAU UGM), Yogyakarta, from January to March 2024. Results: This study was experimental. Conclusions: Components such as fiber, antioxidants, vitamin A, vitamin C, flavonoids, and tannins contained in leunca fruit have an anti-obesity effect. Leunca fruit at a dose of 1,6 g/200 gBW and 2,4 g/200 gBW is the most effective dose in preventing weight gain in rats induced by a high-fat sucrose diet.
