Writing descriptive texts remains challenging for many English as a Foreign Language students, particularly in developing, organizing, and effectively expressing ideas. This study investigated whether a Deep Learning Approach significantly affects the descriptive text writing ability of tenth-grade students at State Senior High School 1 Tanjungbalai in the 2025–2026 academic year. The study employed a quantitative experimental design, with 72 students assigned to experimental and control classes. Data were collected through observation sheets, questionnaires, and writing tests, and analyzed using an independent-samples t-test with IBM SPSS Statistics Version 20. The findings revealed that the experimental class achieved a higher mean score (80.56) than the control class (70.97), with a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating a statistically significant difference between the two groups. The Deep Learning Approach facilitated active participation, critical thinking, and the development of creative ideas during writing activities. These findings demonstrate that the Deep Learning Approach significantly improves students’ descriptive text writing ability and offers an effective pedagogical approach for supporting meaningful English writing instruction.
