Abstract

This study aims to analyze the leadership characteristics of Monkey D. Luffy in the anime One Piece based on Bernard M. Bass’s theory of transformational leadership. The method employed is library research using a semiotic analysis approach proposed by Charles Sanders Peirce, which consists of representamen, object, and interpretant. The data consist of selected episodes from the Arc Wano, specifically Episodes 983 and 1071. The results indicate that Luffy demonstrates transformational leadership through idealized influence and inspirational motivation. These findings affirm the relevance of leadership values in popular culture as a medium for character education among younger generations. Furthermore, Luffy’s transformational leadership can serve as an example of leadership concepts applicable to real-life contexts.
