Abstract

Halal certification is an essential form of product legality that plays a significant role in enhancing consumer trust and improving the competitiveness of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). However, many MSME owners still encounter difficulties in understanding the halal certification procedure, preparing the required documents, and operating the SIHALAL system. This community service program aimed to assist the halal certification application process for a traditional cake MSME in Setail Village, Banyuwangi Regency, as an effort to strengthen product legality and increase consumer confidence. The program employed the Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach, which actively involved the partner throughout all stages of the activities, including problem identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The assistance activities consisted of field observations, interviews, document verification, guidance in creating and completing a SIHALAL account, and monitoring the certification application process. The results showed that the MSME owner demonstrated improved understanding of the halal certification procedures, successfully completed the required administrative documents, and became more proficient in using the SIHALAL system. Furthermore, the participatory approach encouraged active involvement of the partner, making the assistance process more effective. This community service activity contributed to improving the MSME's readiness to fulfill product legality requirements, strengthening consumer trust, and enhancing business competitiveness.
