Abstract

The problem of plastic waste is still one of the environmental issues that needs attention because it can interfere with hygiene and potentially damage the environment if not managed properly. This community service activity aims to help the community understand and master how to manage plastic waste by utilising it as an ecobrick, as well as fostering the spirit of caring for the environment and a creative sense in Karangharja Village. Activities are carried out in a way that involves participation and provides education through several stages such as observing and identifying problems, coordinating and preparing, socialising, collecting and sorting plastic waste, making and inspecting ecobricks, designing and building ecobrick monuments, evaluating, and ensuring the program remains sustainable. The results of the activity show that the public is increasingly understanding the importance of sorting and managing plastic waste, and the participants are increasingly proficient in making ecobricks. Plastic waste that has been collected and processed is successfully converted into ecobrick, then organised into an ecobrick monument as a physical result of the activity. In addition to making real things, this activity also helps to improve creative thinking skills, invite people to participate, work together, and help each other. The ecobrick monument is expected to be a means of learning and a visual reminder for the people of Karangharja Village, thus helping to form habits in managing waste in a more responsible and sustainable manner.
