The long-serve skills of eighth-grade students at SMPIT Harapan Ummat Karawang are still relatively poor, as evidenced by errors in their starting position, racket swing, point of contact with the shuttlecock, direction of the serve, and follow-through. The learning process, which is still teacher-dominated, results in students having limited opportunities to explore and refine their movements independently. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the discovery learning model in improving students’ long serve skills in badminton. The method used was a quantitative approach with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The study sample consisted of 27 eighth-grade students selected using cluster random sampling. The research instrument consisted of a long serve skill test evaluated based on five technical aspects. The treatment was administered over three sessions using the six steps of the Discovery Learning process: stimulation, problem formulation, data collection, data processing, verification, and generalization. The results showed an increase in the mean score from 47.00 on the pretest to 87.00 on the posttest. The Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test yielded a p-value of < 0.001, indicating a significant difference between students’ skills before and after the intervention. The N-Gain analysis yielded a value of 0.762, which falls into the high category. The conclusion of this study is that the Discovery Learning model is effective in improving students’ long serve skills in badminton.
