Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of the immersive learning approach on the citizenship attitudes of elementary school students. This study is a quantitative study with an experimental research type. The experimental design used is a quasi-experiment involving 6th-grade students of SD Negeri Kareogenggong as the experimental class (22 students) and 6th-grade students of SD Negeri Cijampang as the control class (24 students). The data of this study are quantitative data collected using observation techniques of students' citizenship attitudes. The collected data are then analyzed using descriptive statistical test techniques by testing individual achievement scores and classical averages. Individual and classical scores are then interpreted based on the categorization table. Furthermore, the data are analyzed using inferential statistical test techniques using independent t-tests and paired t-tests. The results of the study indicate that the immersive learning approach has a positive and significant effect on the citizenship attitudes of elementary school students. This is evident from the research data which shows a significant increase in the average score of students' citizenship attitudes in the experimental class between before and after being given treatment, namely from 67.33 (low category) to 91.48 (very high category). Furthermore, the average post-test score for students' citizenship attitudes in the experimental class was 91.48 (very high category), while in the control class it was 62.26 (low category). This means that the citizenship attitudes of students who used the immersive learning approach were better. Inferential statistical tests were conducted in this study to test the research hypothesis. The results of the prerequisite test showed that the data were normally distributed (Sig. > 0.05) and the sample came from a homogeneous population (Sig. > 0.05). The results of the prerequisite test were used as the basis for continuing the hypothesis testing using parametric statistical techniques, namely the t-test. The results of the independent t-test and paired t-test showed that the significance value was smaller than the alpha value, namely 0.000 (
