Abstract

The Indonesian fisheries sector faces critical challenges regarding feed availability due to fishmeal scarcity. This study aims to design an ergonomic, five-tier Hermetia illucens cultivation system for household-scale production and analyze its economic feasibility. Engineering design methods integrated with Indonesian Anthropometric Data were employed to enhance operational efficiency, while financial analysis calculated the cost of production (HPP). Field trials demonstrated that a 40-day cycle yields 10 kg of maggots per batch, with a production cost of IDR 6,400 per kg. This cost is 20% lower than the current market price, offering significant savings. The system successfully integrates organic waste bioconversion with economic resilience for smallholder fish farmers.
