Anatomy is a fundamental subject in medical education, yet students often experience difficulties mastering anatomical structures because of the large volume of material and limited learning time. Practical and accessible learning media are therefore needed to enhance students’ understanding and learning outcomes. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of a sensory system pocketbook in improving anatomy practicum scores among first-year medical students at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Jambi University. A quantitative quasi-experimental study with a pre-test–post-test control group design was conducted involving 106 students, who were equally assigned to an experimental group and a control group. The experimental group used the sensory system pocketbook as supplementary learning material, while the control group received conventional learning resources. Data were collected using pre-test and post-test assessments and analyzed using the Kolmogorov–Smirnov test, paired sample t-test, and independent t-test. Both groups demonstrated significant improvements in anatomy practicum scores after the learning intervention. The experimental group achieved a mean score increase from 50.00 to 100.00, whereas the control group improved from 52.59 to 99.63. Post-test scores were significantly higher in the experimental group than in the control group (p = 0.041). These findings indicate that the sensory system pocketbook is an effective supplementary learning resource for improving anatomy practicum performance and supporting independent learning among medical students.
