<![CDATA[This study aimed to examine the differences in body dissatisfaction based on gender among late adolescent Instagram users in Jakarta. The phenomenon of body dissatisfaction among late adolescents has become increasingly prevalent due to the widespread use of visual-based social media, particularly Instagram, which encourages individuals to engage in social comparison regarding their physical appearance. This study employed a quantitative method with a comparative research design. The population consisted of late adolescents aged 18–21 years who were Instagram users and resided in Jakarta. A purposive sampling technique was used to recruit 200 participants, consisting of 100 males and 100 females. The research instrument was the Multidimensional Body-Self Relations Questionnaire (MBSRQ) developed by Cash and Pruzinsky (2002). Data were analyzed using an Independent Samples t-test after fulfilling the assumptions of normality and homogeneity. The results showed a t-value of -4.427 with a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant difference in body dissatisfaction based on gender among late adolescent Instagram users in Jakarta. Female late adolescents demonstrated higher levels of body dissatisfaction than males. Therefore, the research hypothesis stating that there is a significant difference in body dissatisfaction based on gender among late adolescent Instagram users in Jakarta was accepted.]]>
