<![CDATA[Slang expressions present unique challenges in audiovisual translation due to their informal, context-dependent, and culturally specific nature. This study aims to identify the translation techniques used for slang expressions in the Indonesian subtitles of the film Zootopia 2 on Disney+ Hotstar and to determine the most dominant technique. A descriptive qualitative approach utilizing document analysis was employed. The research data consists of 20 slang words and expressions identified in the English dialogue alongside their Indonesian subtitle equivalents. Data collection involved repeated viewing, identification, comparison, and classification based on Molina and Albir’s (2002) translation technique theory. The results reveal the use of six techniques: Established Equivalence, Adaptation, Linguistic Compression, Borrowing, Literal Translation, and Modulation. Established Equivalence was the most frequently used technique, accounting for 11 cases (55%), followed by Adaptation (15%), Linguistic Compression (10%), Borrowing (10%), Literal Translation (5%), and Modulation (5%). These findings indicate that the translator preferred familiar and natural Indonesian expressions to convey contextual meaning while maintaining subtitle readability and audience comprehension. Thus, it can be concluded that Established Equivalence is the dominant technique, playing a crucial role in producing natural, easily understood, and contextually appropriate slang translations in audiovisual subtitles.]]>
